Engage Your Accountability Partner

Your Accountability Partner is someone whom you trust and respect, and who will motivate you and will hold you accountable in pursuing your plan and achieving your goal.

Research shows that working with an Accountability Partner can increase the probability of achieving your goal to 95%.

 

Committing to executing your detailed plan to someone you trust and respect, will motivate you to honor your commitment.

 

It is important, however, that your Accountability Partner, has your interest at heart and has the time and energy to work with you along your entire journey, until you achieve your goal.

Working with your Accountability Partner

 

Here is how you can work effectively with your Accountability Partner.

 

1. Identify your Accountability Partner based on the criteria we defined above.

 

2. Discuss your goal and expectations with your Accountability Partner. In particular ask her or him if they have the interest  and time to support you throughout your entire journey. Ask her or him to be candid with you, and tell them it is OK for her or him to say “no” if they are unable to commit.

 

3. Discuss with her or him how specifically she/he will hold you accountable in challenging times, when it appears that you are not fulfilling your commitments.

 

4. Periodically check with your Accountability Partner if she/he are still prepared to continue supporting you. Ask her/him to give you feedback on the process and what changes you need to make (if any).
