Communicate With Impact

Communicating with impact is the most important skill executives use to inspire, negotiate, and motivate others to bring about their desired outcomes.

Although some communicators are born more gifted than others, everyone can improve their communication skills in significant and demonstrable ways.

But becoming a masterful communicator requires deliberate and persistent practice. So it is up to you to decide whether you are willing to make such an investment in yourself.

Communicating with impact is based on time-tested universal concepts which can be habitualized with practice.

Developing Your Communication Skills

Below are some important steps you can take to improve your communication skills.

1.   Start with the outcome in mind. What take-away message do you want your audience to leave with, and what action do you want them to take?

2.   Then understand the mindset and expectations of your audience. Some may be favourably disposed to your message, while others may see only risks and obstacles. Some may be detail-oriented, while others may have a very short attention span.

3.   Once you have these two “nailed down” craft your message carefully and structure your presentation to hit your key points, create the desired impressions, and inspire the right actions.

4.   Practice your presentations several times before you deliver them, and get someone to critique you before important presentations. It is said that Steve Jobs used to spend hours practicing his presentations before delivering them.

5.   Deliver your message clearly, succinctly, and with great confidence and skill.

6.   Develop real time self-awareness while you’re presenting. Learn to recognise your level of energy, your sense of confidence, and your audience engagement.

7.   Seek insightful feedback from your audience. Then focus on practicing the issues that require attention.

In this module you will learn how to:
